Dr. Alex McFarland, Co-Author of the New Book ‘Stand Strong

America,’ Says Judges Will Answer to God, Who Has a Much

Higher Standard of Justice For All

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—After a federal judge on Friday blocked Mississippi’s religious freedom law, Dr. Alex McFarland (www.AlexMcFarland.com) says those who operate their businesses by biblical principles should not be reprimanded for their closely held beliefs or coerced into accepting the ways of a secular world.

“Natural law and religion are not the same,” said McFarland, a nationally known author, pastor, religion and culture expert, and radio and television. “If the government—and the world—is doling out punishment to people for exercising their religious liberty, then Jefferson, Adams, Washington, Franklin and all the founders of this great nation should be punished as well.

“By forcing the Constitution to grant special rights to a pouty subset of citizens, judges are taking away the natural rights of the rest of us,” McFarland added. “To all judges—know that you will answer to God. He has a much higher standard of justice than even you.”

In Mississippi, HB 1523—the Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act—“would have shielded private businesses and some public-sector employees from legal action and discipline if they refused a customer on the grounds that doing so would violate a ‘sincerely held religious belief,’” reported CNN, adding that the law was passed as a direct result of the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling last June that legalized same-sex marriage in America.

McFarland recently released his newest book, “Stand Strong America.” Co-authored with evangelist and apologist Jason Jimenez—McFarland’s co-host of the “Viral Truth” television program, which airs on the National Religious Broadcasters network—“Stand Strong America” addresses the idea that Americans are weary of the poor character and decisions of their leaders, including laws that may not coincide with their faith.

McFarland’s comments and his new book are especially timely, as the landmark SCOTUS marriage ruling recently marked one year.

“According to God, the SCOTUS marriage decision from June 2015 has been overruled,” McFarland said. “God has the ultimate veto power. As an evangelist, I don’t want any couple to be surprised by this fact. All same-sex couples should realize that what they’ve entered into will never be recognized by God. As an evangelist, I want to tell every person that they should turn to God now and be saved. Don’t leave this world and find out that God had veto power all along.”

McFarland added that, with summer and the wedding season in full swing, he will perform marriage ceremonies for couples—but only for godly couples who commit to the biblical definition of marriage in all respects.

“Marriage that is biblical, one man and one woman, representing the symbolism of Christ (the bridegroom) and the Church (the bride)—these are the covenant marriages for which I am willing to perform ceremonies,” McFarland said. “Let it be publicly known that I will refuse to perform all other weddings, including those who wish to engage in marriages between homosexuals or transgender individuals and couples. My faith in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, prevents me from doing otherwise. This is ultimate love; I will tell people the truth, not the lies that the culture demands they hear.”

“Stand Strong America: Courage, Freedom and Hope for Tomorrow” provides Americans real answers and courage to stand strong in the midst of uncertainty and fear—offering a vision of hope that reignites the fervor and courageous faith that existed when the republic of America was created. Jimenez and McFarland chart the amazing story of how America became the greatest nation on earth and what Americans must do to regain that greatness. Readers will be encouraged and empowered by this clear and invigorating message that will challenge them to love God, cherish freedom, pray for a better tomorrow, make a difference and stand strong no matter the cost.

“Stand Strong America” is available at AlexMcFarland.com, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble or Christianbook.com.

In addition, McFarland recently launched the “2016 Malaise Index,” which gauges Americans’ views on the culture as a whole, as well as their outlook on society, whether positive or negative.

McFarland interacts yearly with about 20,000 young people and is the author of “The God You Thought You Knew: Exposing the 10 Biggest Myths About Christianity,” in which he dispels the myths and untruths about Christianity and replaces that with the truth of who God really is.

He has also penned numerous other books, including “10 Questions Every Christian Must Answer,” “10 Issues that Divide Christians,” “10 Answers for Skeptics” and the “Stand” series of devotions for teens. McFarland is also an expert in the field of apologetics—the practice of defending the Christian faith in a world where faith in Christ is plummeting at alarming rates.

McFarland has spent years working with young people and takes their questions to heart. He has preached in more than 1,300 churches and has been featured at conferences such as the Billy Graham School of Evangelism, Focus on the Family’s “Big Dig” and California’s “Spirit West Coast,” sharing the platform with Chuck Colson, Eric Metaxas, Josh McDowell and others. He also serves as Director for Christian Worldview and Apologetics at the Christian Worldview Center of North Greenville University (www.ngu.edu) in Greenville, S.C.

Part evangelist, part apologist, part educator and part broadcaster, McFarland focuses on communicating the message of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. He co-hosts the daily, live radio program “Exploring the Word” on American Family Radio’s Talk Network, heard on approximately 140 stations across the country, and the weekly television show “Viral Truth,” airing on the National Religious Broadcasters Network, which he co-hosts with Jason Jimenez.
