Youth Apologetics Leader, Author and Evangelist Serving as 2019 NDOP National Student Movement Director
GREENSBORO, N.C.—By the time the National Day of Prayer rolls around on May 2, religion and culture expert, national radio host and author Dr. Alex McFarland hopes at least one young person in every state will passionately partner with him to get America’s youth rallied in prayer.
McFarland, the creator of the successful Truth for a New Generation (TNG) national and regional apologetics conferences, has been named the National Student Movement Director for the National Day of Prayer (NDOP). With the 2019 theme of “Love One Another,” NDOP aims to mobilize unified public prayer for America.
“Our fervent hope is that we will mobilize at least one student leader in every state in America to hit the ground running between now and May to take a leadership role in urging their peers to pray,” McFarland said. “Our young people are facing a multitude of very serious issues, and they are being pulled in every direction from many agendas that are fighting for their devotion, their time and their souls. This is the most difficult time in history to grow up in America; the challenges are great for our young people, and they are walking away from God in droves. There is only one answer—Jesus—and there is one way to become closer to Him—prayer.”
McFarland will work with the National Day of Prayer in partnership with his organization, Truth for a New Generation. TNG conferences have been in existence for over two decades and aim to help students, parents, youth pastors and community members lift up this young generation, pray for them and empower them to stand strong in their faith.
According to the NDOP website, “The National Day of Prayer belongs to all Americans. It is a day that transcends differences, bringing together citizens from all backgrounds. Mrs. Shirley Dobson, NDP chairman emeritus, reminded us: ‘We have lost many of our freedoms in America because we have been asleep. I feel if we do not become involved and support the annual National Day of Prayer, we could end up forfeiting this freedom, too.’”
