Dr. Alex McFarland Points to Irony in Richards’ Call for Pet Adoption,
Yet Planned Parenthood Helped Kill 300,000+ Babies Last Year

GREENSBORO, N.C.—In its 2016-2017 annual report, Planned Parenthood revealed it performed 321,384 abortions, but provided just 3,889 adoption referrals.

Here’s the irony—outgoing Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards advocated for pet adoption in a recent tweet when she showed a photo of her dog with the hashtag #AdoptDontShop.

Religion and culture expert, national radio host and author Dr. Alex McFarland said few should be surprised that Richards didn’t make a similar call for the adoption of babies as a life-affirming choice over abortion.

“Commentaries on our culture like this one prove that the depravity of the mind is pervasive and we are truly living in a Romans 1 world,” said McFarland, who is also Director for Christian Worldview and Apologetics at the Christian Worldview Center of North Greenville University (NGU) in Greenville, South Carolina. “There is no value for life, unless it fits within liberal, agenda-driven confines. How ironic that Cecile Richards would advocate for pet adoption yet apparently feel no guilt whatsoever for the millions of unborn babies—God’s creations in His own image—over the years of her reign at Planned Parenthood. And that she would see no irony in her tweet is even more telling.

“Romans 1 says that the unrighteous suppress the truth,” McFarland said. “Down deep, they know the truth—and somewhere in her heart, Cecile Richards knows that a baby’s life is a precious gift—but they refuse to acknowledge this truth and, as the Bible says, ‘are without excuse.’ They ‘became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.’ May God deliver all of us from our foolish thinking that blinds us from the glory of His truth.”

Breitbart, who reported the story, shined a light on the fact that abortion is big business for Planned Parenthood, and that Richards, who earned a salary of at least $500,000 in the past year, helped boost Planned Parenthood’s profits by $21 million—or 27 percent—from the prior year, as the group also took in nearly $544 million in taxpayer funding.

Likewise, Planned Parenthood’s services to women who do not intend to terminate their unborn babies has declined, Breitbart added: “The number of prenatal and maternity care services has dropped 17 percent from 9,419 during 2015-2016 to 7,762 in the last year. In 2014-2015, Planned Parenthood claimed 17,419 prenatal services performed.”
