Well-Known Author and Religion/Culture Expert Says No Amount of Good Comes from Watching the NFL—In Fact, It’s Taken Away from Valuable Family Time and Church Time Since the 1960s

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Religion and culture expert and author Dr. Alex McFarland has pledged his life to helping young people discover truth. They won’t find it, he says, in Colin Kaepernick or Nike.

“Colin Kaepernick is certainly no role model for young people,” McFarland said after Nike announced it had signed the former quarterback as the face for its new ad campaign. “He is an ungrateful traitor to America, to the flag and to all the good that our national anthem has stood for. By this action, Nike is not being a good corporate citizen—and is a ‘net negative’ to the America that, for decades, has provided Nike billions in profit.

“America, dust Nike, Colin Kaepernick and the NFL off your feet,” McFarland continued. “My extensive travel has made me appreciate America so much. One doesn’t have to go far to realize how good we have it in this nation. However, the blessings of this free country are being undermined by reckless opportunists like Colin Kaepernick and his new corporate pimp, Nike. As a person whose father truly sacrificed and lost vision in one eye in the crash of a test plane while serving in World War II, I can tell you that there will never be another pair of Nike shoes in our house.”

McFarland added that the American people must realize the following:

  • The NFL is a horribly negative presence for the well-being of America. The NFL sells a pipe dream to under-privileged young people who delusionally believe their ticket to their wealth and future is in pro sports, rather than in building one’s character, finding one’s calling and working hard to achieve it.
  • If we could calculate the amount of family time—in addition to church time—that has been usurped by the NFL’s luring millions to waste time, we would all be shocked.
  • In what way, since the 1960s, has frittering away endless hours watching football bettered America? None. Zero.
  • The same NFL decadence machine that has promoted delinquency among youth, gambling, alcohol abuse and the sale of tacky “souvenirs”—not to mention has overlooked egregious indiscretions by its players and coaches—is the same NFL that continues to provide a platform for the traitor Colin Kaepernick.

Later this month, McFarland is hosting the Truth for a New Generation conference in the Nashville area. Set for Sept. 14-15 at New Vision Baptist Church, 1750 North Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro, just outside of Nashville, the conference will welcome the nation’s top voices for truth, including legendary apologist Josh McDowell, author and national radio host Dr. Michael Brown, faith investigator J. Warner Wallace, “Counter Culture Mom” Tina Marie Griffin, former jihadi Kamal Saleem, American Family Radio’s Meeke Addison, worship leader and Stage 2 Ministries founder Cindy Johnson, and Church For All Nations senior pastor Mark Cowart, among others.
