Special Program on Sunday Will Expose Southern Poverty Law Center for Labeling Bible-Believing Organizations as ‘Hate Groups’
CHARLOTTE, N.C.—For many years, longstanding Christian and conservative ministries, such as the American Family Association, D. James Kennedy Ministries, Alliance Defending Freedom and the Family Research Council, have been targeted as “hate groups” by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for their stances on pro-family values and traditional marriage.
What’s more disturbing, however, is that some media, charity watchdogs and even law enforcement agencies are listening to the SPLC, an Alabama-based group that targets Christian organizations and works to defame them.
On Sunday, D. James Kennedy Ministries will air a national television exposé on the SPLC to shine light on how it makes huge profits off its reputation while demonizing Bible-believing Christians and organizations.
Author, religion and culture expert, and national radio host Dr. Alex McFarland (www.AlexMcFarland.com), who hosts the daily program “Exploring the Word” on American Family Radio from AFA, says that the national epidemic of shunning truth and a lack of critical thinking has caused groups like the SPLC to resort to attacking well-respected Christian groups.
“The 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence would be labeled a ‘hate group’ as well,” McFarland said. “So would Christ and his 12 apostles. In a culture that has lost the ability to think, all we have left is name-calling. ‘I disagree with you, so I will resort to name-calling.’ Adults in America today are trying to set forth their position by name-calling and demonizing, and it’s a sad commentary on what our nation has become.
“Killing babies and sodomy is unsettling,” he continued, “therefore, we have a national motive for abolishing truth—so we can feel OK about abortion and gay marriage. We no longer employ critical thinking skills or a moral authority, which are necessary to stand up and say that anything is wrong.”
This Sunday, July 16, Dr. Frank Wright, president and CEO of D. James Kennedy Ministries, will host the special program, “PROFIT$ OF HATE: The Southern Poverty Law Center,” airing on the nationwide “Truths That Transform” broadcast. McFarland recently debuted his newest book, co-authored with apologist and evangelist Jason Jimenez, called “Stand Strong in Your Faith: Live What You Believe with Confidence and Passion.” The guide provides Christians with insight and encouragement to keep the faith during the toughest times of life. “Stand Strong in Your Faith,” released earlier this month, is available from BroadStreet Publishing.
In another of his new books, “Abandoned Faith: Why Millennials Are Walking Away and How You Can Lead Them Home,” also co-authored with Jimenez, McFarland explores why millennials are leaving the church, instructs how those who love millennials can bring them back, and offers the hope of Christ to parents, especially as they seek to understand what propels their adult children as they begin to come into their own.
