GREENSBORO, N.C.—Many evangelists may focus on numbers of attendees or dollars raised, but true change happens one life at a time, and sometimes in small ways or quiet corners.
For more than two decades, religion and culture expert, national radio host and author Dr. Alex McFarland has ministered in churches in every state in the nation, as well as at Bible studies, conferences and leadership events.
Earlier this month, McFarland delved into the Old Testament book of Amos at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, North Carolina, for a multi-day study with more than 150 participants.
At the event, McFarland said, a mother approached him and said they had prayed together for her son at the 2017 Cove event. And Jesus had stepped in.
“This mother came up to me and reminded me that a year ago, we had prayed together for her son, who had left his faith behind, embraced a homosexual lifestyle and was very far from God,” McFarland said. “Last year, she was so fearful that her son would never return to Jesus. We prayed together for him, and by God’s grace, this young man was with his parents at The Cove event this year. He thanked us for praying for him, for not giving up on him, and together, we praised God for his return to the Lord’s open arms.
“At nearly every venue where I speak, there are stories like these about hurting people,” McFarland added. “There is no soul too far from God that He won’t step in, intercede and pull people back into His family. When Christians gather together and pray in Jesus name, there is nothing that is impossible.”
In September, McFarland is taking his popular and well-attended Truth for a New Generation (TNG) conference “on the road,” with the first regional stop of this event featuring the nation’s best minds in apologetics in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Sept. 14-15.
More than 1,000 gathered this past March in Greensboro, North Carolina, for the national TNG event titled “Save a Nation.” The regional events will have the same theme and will encourage Christians to pray for their country and activate to bring revival to the land.
Joining McFarland, who is also Director for Christian Worldview and Apologetics at the Christian Worldview Center of North Greenville University (NGU) in Greenville, South Carolina, will be legendary apologist Josh McDowell, faith investigator and author J. Warner Wallace, “Counter Culture Mom” Tina Marie Griffin, former jihadi Kamal Saleem and American Family Radio’s Meeke Addison, among others.
The early bird rate of $34.95 for the Tennessee event ends Aug. 19 and includes Sept. 14-15 general admission to the conference and exhibits. A VIP lunch option Saturday is also available, which includes a private luncheon with key speakers who will give a “Religion & Culture Briefing” plus one complimentary book. Student, group, Gold Circle and VIP package rates are also available. Tickets also include a discount for a Friday night concert, with details to be announced soon.
