How the United Methodist Church’s end to anti-gay ban turns away from the Lord’s foundations
‘By abandoning biblical foundations for political and cultural approval, these so-called ‘Christians’ are creating their own man-made religion that has nothing to do with the one true God,’ says Alex McFarland
GREENSBORO, N.C. — After 50 years of holding bans over gay clergy and same-sex marriages, stating that they were “incompatible with Christian teaching,” the United Methodist Church (UMC) has removed these barriers. By the end of 2023, more than 7,600 congregations, a quarter of U.S. Methodist churches, disaffiliated from the UMC. Although many members of the UMC believe this is a win for the church’s legislation, many members including those from around the globe disagree with the decision, some saying, “We do not believe we know better than the Bible.”
Founder and President of Alex McFarland Ministries Dr. Alex McFarland, states that by removing the LGBTQ+ ban, the United Methodist Church is creating a faith that no longer stands by Christian values and biblical beliefs.
“By abandoning biblical foundations for political and cultural approval, these so-called ‘Christians’ are creating their own man-made religion that has nothing to do with the Bible or the one true God,” says McFarland. “As scripture says, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. But now in the Methodist Church transgenderism is a sacrament and trumps Biblical marriage. It is time for true believers around the world to stand uncompromisingly for the Word of God in the face of such outrageous attacks. The Word of God and the exclusivity of Jesus Christ our Savior are hills worth dying on. Let us never forget, the very fact that America even exists is testimony to the mercy and suffering of our Lord.”
Alex McFarland currently co-hosts Exploring the Word on the American Family Radio Network, airing daily on nearly 200 radio stations across the U.S. He is also the host of the “Alex McFarland Show,” which airs weekly on NRB TV and YouTube.
