Trouble ahead: Nearly half of young Americans polled said UnitedHealthcare CEO had it coming
‘It is up to us, the faithful believers, to bring these young people back to Christ and His plan for our nation before it is too late’
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Even as suspect Luigi Mangione faces life in prison without parole for the recent murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, he has already won the court of public opinion. Nearly half of young Americans believe that Thompson’s murder was “acceptable,” despite the courts calling it an act of terrorism. Since the healthcare exec’s brutal execution, scores of social media posts celebrating his death have circulated the internet, with many lauding Thompson’s death as a symbol of justice for Americans who feel cheated by health insurance.
This callous response to the murder of an innocent man is a clear indicator of the downward trajectory of American morality, according to youth, culture and religion expert Dr. Alex McFarland.
“What is wrong with young Americans that taking the life of another is worthy of admiration?” noted McFarland. “No matter your grievance with today’s health care system, a man was murdered. This cavalier attitude towards the loss of life reflects the lack of biblical morality in today’s society. If we aren’t thoughtfully designed by a Creator, what purpose can life really have? Without a biblical foundation, the concept of morality becomes subjective whereas the Bible reveals the inerrant truth. Today’s youth need God’s guiding light in their lives, especially the moral and biblical foundations found in the Gospel, not the leftist indoctrination peddled by the media. It is up to us, the faithful believers, to bring these young people back to Christ and His plan for our nation before it is too late.”
Alex McFarland currently co-hosts Exploring the Word on the American Family Radio Network, airing daily on nearly 200 radio stations across the U.S. He is also the host of the “Alex McFarland Show,” which airs weekly on NRB TV and YouTube. The “Alex McFarland Show” podcast is available here.
McFarland and theologian Bert Harper, veteran cohosts of the nationally syndicated broadcast Exploring the Word, are proud to announce the launch of their latest book, “100 Bible Questions and Answers for Families.” A follow-up to their previous work, “100 Bible Questions and Answers,” this powerful new book promises to guide through some of the most common challenges and queries people have about God, the Bible, and Christian living.
