In today’s culture, the word church often evokes mixed reactions. For some, it’s a place of refuge and truth. For others, it’s a symbol of outdated tradition or even hypocrisy. But let me be clear: the church is not a four-letter word. It’s not a curse, a burden, or a relic of the past. It is the living body of Christ on earth—and it’s more relevant now than ever.
One of the great misconceptions of our time is that people are naturally drawn to God. The truth is, we’re not. Scripture tells us that “no one seeks God” (Romans 3:11). Left to ourselves, we drift—not toward righteousness, but away from it. That’s why the church matters. It’s the place where truth is proclaimed, where the gospel is preached, and where the Holy Spirit convicts hearts.
You may not feel like you need Jesus. But feelings are not facts. Salvation is not based on emotion—it’s based on truth. Think of it like coolant in a car engine. The vehicle might seem fine. The air conditioning might be blowing cold. The radio might be playing your favorite song. But if the engine lacks coolant, it’s only a matter of time before it overheats and dies. In the same way, you might feel okay spiritually. Life might seem smooth. But without salvation—without Jesus—you are headed for destruction.
The efficacy of the gospel has nothing to do with how you feel about it. The gospel is powerful because it is true. Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). And no one can even want to come unless the Holy Spirit draws them (John 6:44). That’s why conviction matters. It’s not guilt—it’s grace. It’s God lovingly alerting you to your need for Him.
If you sense that tug in your heart, don’t ignore it. Respond while you’re aware. The opportunity to turn to Christ is not guaranteed tomorrow. The Bible says, “Today is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). The church is not a four-letter word—it’s a lifeline. It’s the place where eternity is addressed, where truth is spoken, and where lives are changed.
Don’t wait until it’s too late. Come to Jesus. Come to the Church. Come to Life.
