Congressman Mark Walker began his career in business before serving sixteen years as an ordained minister. In 2014, Walker, with no political background, was elected to the U.S. Congress. In the U.S. House, Walker was elected Chairman of the Republican Study Committee and was unanimously elected Vice Chairman of the entire Republican conference. Walker also served as ranking member on Homeland Security’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism subcommittee.

In 2024, President Trump selected Congressman Walker to lead the RNC faith outreach program. In April, President Trump asked Congressman Mark Walker to serve as Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom.

The Ambassador at Large is the only Ambassador mandated by law as the principal advisor to the President and Secretary of State on matters of international religious freedom.

Congressman Walker and Dr. Kelly Walker, a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, have been married for more than three decades with three adult children.
