30 seconds of TikTok fame, a lifetime of sexual exploitation; Dr. Alex McFarland warns against overt sexualization of impressionable youth
‘Today’s teens are being manipulated, and unfortunately, many Christians are standing idly by and allowing the corruption of our future to unfold’
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Despite the concerns from critics and parents alike, today’s teens are more enmeshed in social media like TikTok than ever before, with social media personalities directly influencing young, impressionable minds in a way previously unheard of — for better or worse. The Bop House, a joint TikTok account that features young women doing a variety of suggestive videos, has amassed over 3.5 million followers, many of whom are teen girls who are enticed to join the lifestyle with a simple audition and a photo of their ID. “Bop” is slang for a woman with multiple sex partners, and many of the featured participants boast OnlyFans accounts.
Experts are concerned that the Bop House is “a pipeline to OnlyFans” and other explicit content, with youth, culture and religion expert Dr. Alex McFarland noting the emphasis on sexuality merely creates an unrealistic and toxic environment for young girls.
“The purpose of raising up young people is to equip them to become meaningful, productive members of society,” said McFarland. “Now, social media creates an enticing delusion steeped in evil — by giving up your morality, you too can have a charmed and effortless life! Today’s teens are being manipulated, and unfortunately, many Christians are standing idly by and allowing the corruption of our future to unfold. It is our calling to step and ensure that our young men and women grow into responsible, God-honoring adults.”
Alex McFarland Ministries, in partnership withReasons For Hope, is proud to offer Equip Retreat Camps for families looking for unapologetic Christian camps to educate and inspire today’s young people. The camps are for middle and high school students who want to immerse themselves in learning about apologetics and biblical worldview from Dr. Alex McFarland and other keynote speakers. Young people will gain the knowledge and understanding to own, share and defend their faith in the Lord, given their newfound confidence to spread the Gospel.
Alex McFarland currently co-hosts Exploring the Word on the American Family Radio Network, airing daily on nearly 200 radio stations across the U.S. He is also the host of the “Alex McFarland Show,” which airs weekly on NRB TV and YouTube. The “Alex McFarland Show” podcast is available here.
McFarland and theologian Bert Harper, veteran cohosts of the nationally syndicated broadcast Exploring the Word, are proud to announce the launch of their latest book, “100 Bible Questions and Answers for Families.” A follow-up to their previous work, “100 Bible Questions and Answers,” this powerful new book promises to guide Christians through some of the most common challenges and queries people have about God, the Bible, and Christian living.
