March 23-24 North Carolina Event Welcomes Nation’s Top Authors,
Apologists and Influencers, Including Todd Starnes and Lauren Green

GREENSBORO, N.C.—Church and state issues, religious liberties and the intersection of faith and politics have been top headlines over the past year. And Fox News hosts Todd Starnes and Lauren Green have been there to cover them all.

Both will be featured speakers at the 2018 Truth for a New Generation (TNG) conference organized by religion and culture expert and author Dr. Alex McFarland. The event is set for March 23-24, 2018, at Life Community Church, 4900 W. Wendover Ave., Jamestown (the greater Greensboro area) in North Carolina.

“Todd Starnes brings issues of religious freedom and the protection of the nation’s heritage in front of the American people like no one else,” said McFarland, who is also Director for Christian Worldview and Apologetics at the Christian Worldview Center of North Greenville University in Greenville, S.C. “We’re honored to welcome him to Truth for a New Generation, as Todd puts today’s pressing issues in the faces of all Americans in an entertaining and enlightening way, and truly makes them think.

“And if there’s a faith topic that should be front-and-center for Christians, Lauren Green takes an intelligent and very real look at the issue and shares it with millions of viewers,” McFarland added. “I am thrilled to welcome my friend to our apologetics conference later this month, and I know our attendees will be moved and deeply affected by her talk.”

Starnes is a popular Fox News commentator and columnist heard daily on hundreds of radio stations around the nation. He also makes regular appearances on Fox News Channel, including on “Fox & Friends,” and on Fox Business Network. He is the author of several books, including “The Deplorables’ Guide to Making America Great Again,” “Dispatches from Bitter America” and “God Less America,” and is a frequent speaker. He recently debuted the three-hour, daily “Todd Starnes Show” on Fox News Radio and has covered a number of high-profile stories, taking him from Wall Street to the White House. His syndicated column and blog are read by millions.

Starnes has been at Fox News for more than a decade, and pollster George Barna included him as one of the top media influencers for evangelical Christians in the 2016 presidential election. Starnes has covered some of the biggest stories of the past 10 years—from presidential campaigns to the culture wars—interviewing an array of newsmakers and celebrities. His annual Fox News Radio Christmas show has become a national yuletide tradition featuring some of the biggest names in contemporary Christian music.

He is the recipient of a regional Radio Television Digital News Association’s Edward R. Murrow Award and an Associated Press Mark Twain Award for storytelling. In 2014, he was awarded the National Religious Broadcaster’s Board of Directors Award. He is the recipient of First Liberty Institute’s Defender of the Faith Award, Vision America’s National Hero of Faith Award, Bott Radio Network’s Watchman on the Wall Award, and Pacific Justice Institute’s Light in Media Award. Starnes is also a frequent speaker at churches, Christian conferences, and Christian universities. He has delivered messages at the Reagan Ranch, the Billy Graham Training Center and Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit.

Lauren Green currently serves as Fox News Channel’s (FNC) chief religion correspondent based in the New York bureau. She joined FNC in 1996. Her online program, “Spirited Debate,” on which McFarland has been a guest many times, delves into the most pressing faith-based news issues and welcomes experts who present a variety of perspectives.

In 2013, Green reported live from Rome on the election of Pope Francis, as well as on the retirement of Pope Benedict XVI. Additionally, she provided live coverage of the beatification of Pope John Paul II from Rome in 2011 and Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to the United States in 2008. Before joining FNC, Green served as a weekend news anchor and correspondent at WBBM-TV (CBS-2) in Chicago, Illinois. From 1988 to 1993, she was a general assignment reporter at KSTP-TV (ABC-5) in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Outside of her career at FNC, Green is a reputable concert pianist with a degree in piano performance from The University of Minnesota. She has interviewed some of the most prominent people in the classical music world including Placido Domingo, Pierre Boulez and Joshua Bell, and has covered such events as the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and opening night of The Metropolitan Opera. In 2004, she released her debut album, “Classic Beauty.” A graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Green was named Miss Minnesota in 1984 and was the third runner-up in the 1985 Miss America contest.

Also joining McFarland at the Truth for a New Generation will be legendary apologist Josh McDowell, faith investigator J. Warner Wallace, American Family Association Public Policy Analyst Abraham Hamilton III, “Counter Culture Mom” Tina Marie Griffin, former radical Muslim Kamal Saleem and Juan Valdes, senior pastor of a Spanish-speaking congregation in Florida.

The new Truth for a New Generation app is now available on Apple/iOS and Android devices and will provide relevant information about the 2018 TNG conference. This year’s conference will also feature a screening of the American Family Association feature-length film, “The God Who Speaks,” for which McFarland was a contributor, as well as a VIP “Gold Circle” seating, which will allow participants to interact with the speakers.
