Dr. Alex McFarland joins nationwide continuous Bible reading to reinvigorate American faith

America Reads the Biblehosts over 475 faith leaders to unite the Body of Christ and catalyze a national movement in the heart of the nation’s capital

GREENSBORO, N.C. Despite four in 10 Americans claiming to be more “spiritual,” this does not automatically equate to a stronger sense of faith or religion, according to a recent study. Faith’s importance has dropped 20 percentage points since 2000 — more than any other Christian commitment measure. To combat the decline of faith in a nation built on Christianity, America Reads the Bible, presented by Bunni Pounds and Christians Engaged, is hosting a continuous Bible reading at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., from April 18-25, with acclaimed author Dr. Alex McFarland as the reader for Nehemiah 11 and 12, on April 22 at 10 a.m. ET. At America Reads the Bible, over 475 leaders from all spheres of influence will gather to read the entire Bible aloud ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

“God’s Word has been with us for thousands of years, and it’s utterly amazing that it has been translated so accurately into so many languages that millions might be saved by the grace of God,” said McFarland. “Some believe the myth that the Bible is full of errors and ‘nice stories’ that aren’t actually true. But Christians know that the Bible is infallible and divinely inspired. It’s what carries us through, and the Bible is God’s gift to all of us.”

As a renowned speaker, author, apologist, and founder and president of Alex McFarland Ministries, McFarland understands the great impact that calling Americans back to the Word of God will have on the future of the nation. McFarland’s books often pertain to common questions about the Bible, including inspiring truths, historical facts and practical insights, as well as his most recent book on the end-times discussion around the Bible’s big promises.

“We are called to know Christ, discover the reasons behind our faith, and put these convictions into action to change our lives and the lives of those around us. This can only be done by having a deep and personal relationship with God through the study of His Word. Through a public, continuous reading of the entire Bible in our nation’s capital by our national leaders from all spheres of influence, we believe God can spark revival in individual hearts and inspire Americans to carry the Word forward in their lives and communities into the next 250 years of our national story,” declared McFarland.
