Gerwig’s gender-bending ‘Narnia’ remake is ‘disrespectful and outrageous,’ says Dr. Alex McFarland
The blatant erasure of Christian content reveals the underlying agenda in modern culture; the Alex McFarland Speaker Series is set to empower Christians to stand firm against cultural attacks
GREENSBORO, N.C. — “The Chronicles of Narnia” are some of the most beloved books in English literature, and for Christians, the obvious connection to Christ and the Bible gives it even more significance. However, “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig is set to direct a new adaptation of the cherished classic. Gerwig is attacking the Christian worldview underpinning the Naria Chronicles. Gerwig calls it a “rock and roll reimagining.” That’s not the only tell that Gerwig’s creating her own story while still using the name “Narnia.” Gerwig is casting Meryl Streep as the voice of Aslan, a male lion who represents Christ.
For readers of the Narnia Chronicles, Gerwig’s Aslan will sound very much like the anti-Aslan from the final book of the series, The Last Battle, in which the character Shift the Ape persuaded a donkey to wear a lion’s skin and masquerade as Aslan.
“The 2005 adaptation of ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’ became a classic due to its dedication to honoring the original work,” said youth, culture and religion expert Dr. Alex McFarland. “Greta Gerwig is poised to pervert C.S. Lewis’ most famous work with degrading, gender-bending ideology. No one asked her to rewrite Narnia, gutting the Christian message and proclaiming a false Aslan! Casting Meryl Streep — or any female actor — to voice Aslan is disrespectful and outrageous. C.S. Lewis would be outraged. Christians, speak now or forever regret it.”
On June 15, McFarland will speak with renowned relationship expert Dr. Gary Chapman on the challenges and benefits inherent in personal relationships, as well as the dynamics of family, marriage and interpersonal communication, at the upcoming Alex McFarland Speaker Series in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This series is designed for anyone eager to engage with pressing issues and navigate the complexities of modern thought using solid information and timeless wisdom. Christians will have the chance to reflect on the subtleties of leadership and learn to defeat the movements and social currents that encourage Christians to walk away from critical, well-informed thinking. In addition to Dr. Chapman, Charlie Kirk and Lauren Green will be part of the Alex McFarland speaker series later this year; Dinesh D’Souza was the first speaker on May 4. The topics range from marriage and family, American politics, the state of the American Church and more.
