GREENSBORO, N.C. — Christians around the world are enduring increasing persecution. At least six Christians were killed and 14 abducted in renewed coordinated attacks by armed militia in Nigeria, according to a recent report. No. 7 on the World Watch List for Christian persecution, vast portions of Nigeria have implemented Islamic law, creating a system where Christians live as second-class citizens and conversion from Islam can be severely punished. Muslim government officials are thought to be funding the assault on believers.
“Wake up, American Christians! Our brothers and sisters are being hunted purely for their faith in Christ,” said Dr. Alex McFarland, founder and president of Alex McFarland Ministries. “Christians in Nigeria and other places of high persecution are facing horrors we in America can only imagine. Where’s the outrage? President Trump is well aware of these attacks and has openly denounced these villains and their attacks on the nation’s Christians, but that isn’t enough. We must not ignore the threat to our faith that is happening in Nigeria, and not fear speaking out in support of Christ’s global community. The Church body must beseech the Lord to protect His children in these places of assault, as well as demand a change from all world leaders.”
