Nigerian genocide: Why won’t America stand with the Christians when Muslims slaughter them?

‘Shame on us if we do not act to protect those who are in desperate need of aid merely for their belief in the one true God,’ says Dr. Alex McFarland

GREENSBORO, N.C. Christians in Nigeria are facing even more religiously motivated violence as reports indicate that over 30 people were murdered in the small village of Naridon solely for their faith in Christ. “Every month, we bury our people,” said one local representative. “Last month, we buried 11 people, including children; now, another mass burial of 30. Enough is enough, please! Please come to our aid!” This horrifying act of aggression is just the latest in the long list of violence towards Christians in the predominantly Muslim nation.

“Where are the allies, the Christian brothers-in-arms, to come to the aid of those persecuted in Nigeria?” declared youth, culture and religion expert Dr. Alex McFarland. “The Christian genocide happening in Nigeria is being criminally underreported, crowded out by coverage of ‘first world problems.’ Why is this senseless slaughter not being broadcast as top news around the world? America, the foremost Christian nation in the world, should be first in line to aid those persecuted in the name of Christ. If Nigeria were in central Europe or our foremost trade partner for something like oil, would these atrocities be swept under the rug in the same manner? Shame on us if we do not act to protect those who are in desperate need of aid merely for their belief in the one true God.”

On August 8, 2026, McFarland is set to speak with conservative author, speaker and host Eric Metaxas on the topic of the birth of “the greatest nation in the world” and what America represents in his acclaimed Conversations that Matter series. In a world overflowing with opinions and half-truths, this series offers participants a chance to explore what they believe, why they believe it, and how those beliefs shape their lives. This series is designed for anyone eager to engage with pressing issues and navigate the complexities of modern thought using solid information and timeless wisdom. Attendees gain a better understanding of how to think critically, pray for guidance and thrive, knowing what they believe and why.
