Talarico’s false Gospel equates government overreach with Christ-like faith

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Convoluted so-called Christian and hopeful U.S. senator James Talarico is once again misappropriating Scripture to support liberal ideology and programming. Claiming that the Bible calls for Christians to “finish the work of President Obama” and pass a public option for health care, Talarico displays his gross misunderstanding of Scripture, despite his seminary background. Talarico exalts the Affordable Care Act and other liberal health care plans to the level of Scripture by implying that since Christ spent so much time healing the sick, Christians should prioritize government health care programs; however, Talarico and his ilk fail to understand the repercussions of misappropriating the Bible, noted youth, culture and religion expert Dr. Alex McFarland.
“Jesus is very clear: He calls His followers to care for the sick, the needy and the destitute, but nowhere does He say that it’s the government’s prerogative,” said McFarland. “This slippery slope argument implies that anyone who is not for subsidizing health care therefore cannot be a Christian. This nation was founded not only on Christian values, but on the value of hard work and sacrifice. What would our Founding Fathers think of the direction America is headed?”
McFarland recently spoke with conservative author, speaker and host Eric Metaxas on the topic of the birth of “the greatest nation in the world” and America’s role on the national stage in his acclaimed Conversations that Matter series.
