Possible Christmas Day attacks on Nigerian Christians: The global church must respond to the plight of fellow believers, says Dr. Alex McFarland

‘Christians in Nigeria and other places of high persecution are facing horrors we in America can only imagine’

GREENSBORO, N.C. Nigeria is ranked seventh on the World Watch List for persecution towards Christians, with jihadist violence continuing to escalate. Ahead of the upcoming Christmas holiday, experts are warning of a planned public attack against the nation’s Christians. A national terror watch organization has received many notable cautions of violence towards believers carried out by Fulani militants, a predominantly Muslim ethnic group.

“Nigeria is one of the most dangerous places in the world for Christians; these people are dying for their faith while we sit comfortably at home in America, unwilling to speak out against these atrocities,” said youth, culture and religion expert Dr. Alex McFarland. McFarland has long warned the worldwide church of the dangers of sitting idly by as other believers are persecuted for the faith. McFarland recently spoke with several experts on this global crisis on his television show, “The Alex McFarland Show.”

“Christians in Nigeria and other places of high persecution are facing horrors we in America can only imagine,” said McFarland. “Our brothers and sisters in Christ are experiencing abuse, neglect and abject violence. Now we have clear proof that there will be a concerted attack on Nigerian Christians on Christmas Day, one of our most holy holidays. Wake up, America! We must implore our Father in Heaven to stir up in us the same faith in Christ that these fallen Christian heroes in Nigeria are displaying to be fit for the kingdom of heaven.”

Alex McFarland currently co-hosts “Exploring the Word” on the American Family Radio Network, airing daily on nearly 200 radio stations across the U.S. He is also the host of the “Alex McFarland Show,” which airs weekly on NRB TV and YouTube. The “Alex McFarland Show” podcast is available here.
